Coffee, Culture & Conversation

International Student Advisory Board’s monthly “Coffee, Culture & Conversation” provides an opportunity to partake in dialogues on different cultures, perspectives, and timely topics while enjoying free Starbucks coffee and snacks. This month, LGBTQ+ Union will collaborate with ISAB to have conversation on inclusivity within the LGBTQ+ community and timely LGBTQ+ matters in the world.

Brown Bag Series: LGBT History Month

LGBTQ+ Union will provide an overview of how LGBT History Month was established and the historic incidents and movements towards LGBTQ+ rights. Then, three will be an open conversation about issues around the LGBTQ+ community. The event is very informal so feel free to bring your lunch.

Ryan Sallans: “Improving Trans Inclusivity on Campus”

Ryan Sallans, an international transgender speaker and consultant, conducts a training designed to assist staff, faculty, and students in understanding current obstacles on college and university campuses that transgender students and employees face. Safe Zone Awareness Training

Location: Foster Ballroom

Organized by Safe Zone Advisory Board, the Safe Zone Awareness Training provides participants with an opportunity to learn about challenges that the LGBTQ+ community face and resources that exist at the university for support.    

Since 2018 Spring Semester, THREE different sessions/workshops organized by the Safe Zone Advisory Board or programs that are approved by us are required to be certified as a Safe Zone Ally and receive a certification and a sticker.

Registration will be open when it is close to the dates, and please contact Kei Mamiya at kmamiya@saffairs.msstate.edu for questions.
